Phenomenal Practice Opportunity

Ground-Floor Opportunity in an Area with no Peds Rehab

The Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group, a pediatric subspecialty practice wholly owned by Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT, and the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine is looking for a Medical Director, PM&R.  Other relevant specialties in this group include pain management, developmental pediatrics, neurosurgery, neurology, and orthopedics.

There is currently no one else in the region who is providing comprehensive care to children with disabilities.

A Medical Director of PM&R will be created and report to the Center’s Physician-in-Chief and the President of Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group.  The Medical Director responsibilities will include inpatient work, outpatient program development and services to include EMGs and injections; participation in an interdisciplinary clinic approach for children with CP, spinal defects and neuromuscular diseases; provision of chronic pain services for inpatients, and work with the researchers in the Center for Motion Analysis.  An academic appointment at the University of Connecticut will be provided.  Physiatry staff expansion is also part of the long term plan and this individual will be instrumental in seeing that come to fruition.

The ideal candidate will be Board Certified in PM&R and Pediatric Rehab and have a strong interest in acute inpatient rehab and ambition to develop a new outpatient program.  The Medical Director should have excellent skills in leadership, organization, interpersonal relations and communications.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a full-service hospital with 125 beds and 32 neonatal beds.  It is dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of children through family centered care, research, education and advocacy.  The staff embraces a comprehensive view of child health, discovery, teamwork, integrity and excellence.
