Region: Metro MN
Facility Features: Leading rehab provider in the region and a national leader in the integration of technology into the rehab care of patients.
Outpatient care is provided at community-based Centers. Electronic medical records at all sites.
CARF-accredited
The facility has a pool which is L-shaped, indoors, and 40 ft long in each direction. There is a stepped shallow end and a deep end.
Cancer Rehab Position: Want someone with a strong interest and passion for cancer rehab (a casual isn’t enough). While they presently have one doctor that focuses on cancer, she is expecting to retire within the next 10 years, so they need someone with a strong interest in this field to help them grow this program in the short term, but to ultimately run this program in the long term. This is a great “legacy” opportunity.
Medical Director, SCI
Responsibilities: There is not a designated wing for SCI. There are 38 total inpatient beds at present, but remodelling plans will bring it to 48 inpatient beds. The SCI census currently ranges between 2-7 inpatients at any given time. Their volume of SCI patients can vary. Sometimes the in-patient service has lots of SCI folks, other times no. SCI is the core, but not the only thing this candidate will do.
- The unit presently has two Nurse Practitioners, a spinal cord system of care coordinator, and an RN/BSN exclusively involved with spinal cords. There are also the typical components of care, such as PT’s and OT’s.
- Taking care of SCI in-patients, out-patients, consults, and running the program is the majority of the work, but not the only aspect of physiatric practice. The Rehab Unit is not big enough for SCI to be the only thing the incumbent to do, though it is the majority of what the incumbent will do.
- The ADC of spinal paralyzed individuals is 2-7. The incumbent will see about eight in-patients/day if s/he follows what the previous doctor did so it is not all in-patient spinal cord injuried. There is some spine and other rehab. The majority is spinal cord injury care, but it is not exclusively SCI care.
- The outpatient clinic draws not only patients who underwent acute comprehensive rehabilitation, but others.
- Will provide program leadership and clinical care. If the candidate does not favor the Medical Director position, a staff position is available.
Affiliation: Employee
Practice Hours: 7 hrs/day patient contact hours – 50 hours per week total.
Call: Part of weekend rotation (1:8), with a day off the next week.
Compensation: Sign-on bonus. Income guarantee for the first 2 years and then 100% production. Their two-year guarantee range is $165,000 to $180,000, will be a higher range for people who have been in practice and bring efficiency and experience. $250,000 -$300,000 is a realistic production pay.
NOTE: Per their Medical Director, the time to conversion to production pay for these incumbents would likely be short, because they would not really need to build up any kind of practice. The inpatients and outpatients are there, waiting to be seen. A new doctor who was hired for clinic and consult work on August 1, 2008 is already close to going to production because the ramp up was so fast, given how behind they are in appointment waiting time.
