Location: South central NC
Locum tenens and/or permanent opportunity in south central NC in the 4th largest NC metro area.
Responsibilities: Mix of outpatient / acute inpatient rehab / subacute (nursing home) rehab.. Acute inpatient and subacute population is mostly orthopedics, CVA, and complex medical/surgical patients with some SCI, BI, and amputee. The office patient population primarily consists of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spinal pain.
Practice Features: Join 2-person, single-specialty, physiatry group. Affiliated with a 78-bed CARF accredited rehabilitation center, several subacute rehabilitation facilities, an acute care level 2 trauma center and a long term acute care hospital. The office has 10 examination rooms, therapy space, and a fluoroscopy suite. The physicians perform many procedures to include basic office injections, Botulinum toxin injections for spasticity and pain, as well as many spinal interventional procedures in the fluoroscopy suite. They perform spinal cord stimulator trials and intrathecal drug trials and provide chronic management for these patients. Two physiatrists, no physician extenders currently. One administrator (chief cook and bottle washer), one billing person (PT), one transcriptionist (PT), two admin clerks (1 FT, 1 PT), three medical asst (PT) Current IP census averages ~9; NH ~24
Community Information: From sports activities, to music and theatre, to simply playing in the many parks and lakes around town — I think you will find just about anything you want here. We have 2 universities in town and a community college as well. There are many private schools and several excellent public schools as well.
A very strong medical community with one of the most active county medical societies in the state. One of the physiatrists was recently the president of the NC Medical Society and they have two local physicians who are members of the NC Medical Board. A wonderful place to practice medicine and the community respects and appreciates what they do – and lets us know this in many ways.

Compensation: Salary of $165,000 the first year with a graduated bonus compensation plan based upon collections in years 2 and beyond. The contract provides salary only for year one and a percentage of collections in subsequent years. For example, 40% of first $100,000, 42% between $100,000 and $125,000, 44% between $125,000 and $150,000, etc. The current associate is probably going to make approximately $250,000 in year 2 of his contract.
